  • El Centro - Join dozens of Gettysburg students who help with this popular after-school program for Latino children who live it near campus.
  • Tutoring programs - Tutor young children with the Wee Care Learning Center or join the Migrant Education Tutoring Program and help Hispanic high school students.
  • Generación Diez - Work with at-risk youth in school districts throughout Adams County.
  • Coalition for Community Care - Take part in a variety of programs for children and adults to strengthen neighborhoods along the town of Gettysburg's Washington Street corridor.

Adults and Families

  • Seeds to Success - Work with the Just Community Food System to provide life-skills training to prison inmates and adults performing court-ordered community service.
  • Adams County Literacy Council - The council coordinates a variety of programs aimed at promoting literacy for adults, and helps coordinate Read Across America each March.
  • Adams County Shelter for the Homeless - The shelter helps homeless children and adults in a number of ways.
  • YWCA - Help young girls develop an appreciation for science through a YWCA program run on the Gettysburg campus.

Domestic and Global Issues

  • Project Gettysburg/Léon - Join this educational and cultural exchange with Gettysburg's sister city of Léon, Nicaragua, which includes advocacy programs, community-enhancement efforts, and other projects.
  • D.C. Outfitters - Travel to Washington, D.C., to distribute clothing and supplies to the homeless.
  • Immersion Projects - Help publicize and coordinate College service-learning projects.

Community Agencies

Gettysburg College and the Adams County Volunteer Center work together to compile volunteer opportunities with more than 50 social-service agencies in and around Gettysburg. Students donate their time to fight poverty, help the homeless, promote good health, protect the environment, and support many other good causes.
