Spiritual Life

Gettysburg College is a community of people from a wide range of faiths and spiritual paths, and we strive to create an atmosphere that fosters ongoing spiritual growth for all.

Worship services reflecting the College's Lutheran heritage, yet open to members of all faiths, are held in Christ Chapel every Sunday. The campus also celebrates weekly Quaker services and a Roman Catholic Mass and the student Hillel organization schedules Shabbat meals, Holy Day remembrances, and other celebrations of the Jewish faith.

Hillel is one of several student religious groups on campus. Others include the Newman Association (a Roman Catholic organization), the Lutheran Student Movement, the Muslim Student Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Campus Crusade for Christ, and the Christian Fellowship.

Representatives from these groups form the College's Interfaith Council, which promotes religious freedom and mutual understanding. Each spring Gettysburg celebrates its many faith traditions during Religious Emphasis Week, bringing in speakers from many of the world's major religions.
