International Students

Ranked consistently in the top tier of the nation's liberal arts colleges, Gettysburg is an academically rigorous, four-year, residential college of liberal arts and sciences. Gettysburg's campus community is comprised of 2,600 energetic and actively engaged undergraduate students.

The comprehensive Gettysburg Curriculum fosters intellectual growth, inspires creativity and integrative thought, develops empowering communication skills, and promotes global awareness. Intimate class sizes (18-20 students, on average) and a student-to-faculty ratio of 11:1 provide Gettysburg students with abundant opportunities to conduct collaborative research with enthusiastic and accomplished faculty. More than 120 student-run clubs and organizations, as well as intercollegiate and intramural athletics, allow Gettysburg College students to expand their experiences beyond the classroom environment.

Located 60 minutes from Baltimore, Maryland and 80 minutes from Washington, D.C., the world-famous town of Gettysburg,�Pennsylvania is home to a plethora of shops, cultural attractions, restaurants, and the historic Gettysburg National Military Park. Gettysburg students reap the benefits of the College's close proximity to a vibrant town and several major metropolitan centers, which include an extensive array of internship options, as well as cultural and recreational activities.

Gettysburg welcomes students from around the world to be valued and active members of our campus community. Currently, students from 35 countries contribute to the rich academic, co-curricular, and social atmosphere of the College. Spring 2008 International Dinner and Fashion Show

The Gettysburg College International Club hosted its annual International Dinner and Fashion show in March.

Clothing, both casual and traditional, and cuisine came from locales that stretched from Venezuela to Ethiopia to Japan.

Dance performances ranged from Punjabi Bhangra to Irish step-dancing and contemporary hip-hop.

International Students win Mellon Research Grants 

2007 Mellon Recipient Atlang Mompe with Prof Stillwagon in Botswana

Hyperinflation in Zimbabwe, creating a sustainable Nepal, and learning about female genital mutilation in Kenya, are just a few of the topics that Gettysburg College international students will research this summer with support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. This is the third consecutive summer in which Mellon grants have supported such projects at Gettysburg. Gettysburg College's scholar development program mentors students over their four years as they seek a myriad of fellowships, scholarships, and grants.
