Women's Center

Gettysburg College's Women's Center is  dedicated to promoting the intellectual, physical and emotional health of women on campus and in the community.  To the Women's Center  the term "women's issues" is all encompassing and includes the interests of women in all fields of study, races and ethnicities, political affiliations and sexual orientations.  The Women's Center hopes to accomplish these goals by fostering political participation and civic engagement, promoting wellness and social justice for women, and raising awareness about women's issues.  We are dedicated to strengthening and supporting self-image, confidence and career aspirations throughout a women's college experience and beyond.    Gettysburg College Women's Center is dedicated to not only working with campus and community women to achieve these goals, but men as well.

The Women's Center staff and volunteers are Advocates for positive treatment of women in the Gettysburg community. The primary purposes of the Women's Center are to educate the college community about women's contributions, achievements, concerns, and potential; to promote Gettysburg's commitment to the equality of women and men; and to support all those who strive for equality at Gettysburg College.

The Women's Center provides an exciting assortment of timely programs for students, staff, and faculty, including support groups, workshops, lectures, interest groups, social activities, and the annual Women's Conference. People searching for new ideas and ways to put those ideas into action make the Women's Center a vital part of campus life and an important educational resource for the Gettysburg College community.

Opened in the fall of 1988, the Women's Center offers a relaxed, warm, friendly, growth-oriented alternative for students, faculty, and administrators. The Women's Center invites the campus to use the facility and its resources to cultivate new ideas and reexamine the traditional thinking of women's roles in society.

The Center's secure and supportive atmosphere provides freedom from sexual bias and inequities. The Women's Center welcomes a diversity of women's experiences, ranging from the traditional to the radical. It is a place where women, as well as men, can grow to their full potential.
